The Canadian Association for Composite Structures and Materials (CACSMA) is a Canadian professional society that brings together researchers, government professionals, and corporate stakeholders who specialize in the science, technology, and application of composite materials. CACSMA’s mission is to:

- Uphold the highest standards of excellence in the design, development, processing and utilization of composite materials through education, research, and industry partnerships;

- Foster a vibrant community that encourages collaboration and networking via our CANCOM conferences, workshops and publications;

- Assist Canadian industry, academics, and other research and engineering organizations to remain competitive with scientific and technological advancements in the composite materials and structures landscape both in Canadian and international contexts;

- Promote respect, diversity, and inclusion and recognize a culture of inclusion to be a driver for innovation and growth.

CANCOM 2024


13th Canadian-International Conference on Composites (CANCOM 2024)

August 6-9, 2024, Waterloo, Canada

The 13th Canadian-International Conference on Composites, CANCOM 2024, was held at the University of Waterloo Campus between August 6 and 9, 2024.

Since its inception, CANCOM has been Canada's largest technical forum facilitating the exchange of technological know-how, research state-of-art, and innovation challenge related to composite materials, by bringing together Canadian and international delegates from industry, academia, government, non-governmental organizations, and vendor suppliers. Keeping industry focus at the centre, CANCOM 2022 has adopted Research & Innovation in Composites as its theme.

ECCM21


21st European Conference on Composite Materials (ECCM 21)

July 2-5, 2024, Nantes, France

The 21st European Conference on Composite Materials (ECCM 21) was held in Nantes, France from July 2 to 5, 2024.

ECCM is Europe’s leading conference on composite materials and will provide a forum for access to the latest knowledge from both industry and academia in all areas of composite materials. It provides an opportunity to highlight the latest developments and to identify emerging and future areas of progress in this dynamic field. Nantes and the Pays de la Loire region, with its recognized economic dynamism, its universities, its centres of excellence and its research and development infrastructure dedicated to composites, is a privileged location to host this new edition of ECCM.

ECCM 21 included plenary sessions, keynote lectures, oral and poster presentations, and an entertaining social programme for delegates from all over the world. The event layout and schedule provided many opportunities to network, learn, discuss and share with colleagues from around the world.

24th International Conference on
Composite Materials (ICCM 24)

August 4-8, 2025, Baltimore, USA

The 24th International Conference on Composites Materials (ICCM 24) will be held in Baltimore, USA between August 4 and 8, 2025.

ICCM is the premier international conference in the field of composite materials, and covers polymer matrix composites, metal matrix composites, ceramic matrix composites, natural fibre composites, fibre metal laminates, fibres and resins and all the other classes of composites.

ICCM 24 provides a forum for the presentation, exchange and discussion of the latest research into composite materials and their applications.

CACSMA recognizes outstanding achievements at the undergraduate, masters, doctoral, and lifetime career levels in the field of composite structures and materials and will recommend candidates for the following CACSMA awards.

    Canada Composites Fellow
    The designation of Canada Composites Fellow is an award given by CACSMA in recognition of the following:
    - Outstanding contribution in the field of composite structures and materials through research, education, and/or industrial development that is recognizable at the national or international levels
    - Other contributions to the field through contributions, such as leadership in outreach and collaboration, significant contributions to equity, diversity, and inclusiveness, etc.

    Timotei Centea Memorial Award for Best PhD Thesis
    This award is in honour of the late Dr. Timotei Centea (1985-2019). Timotei Centea obtained his BEng in Honours and PhD Mechanical Engineering at McGill in 2008 and 2013, respectively.  The Award recognizes outstanding dissertations completed at a Canadian institution in the field of composites and closely related areas.

    CACSMA Award for Best MSc Thesis
    The CACSMA MSc Thesis Award recognizes outstanding dissertations completed at a Canadian institution in the field of composites and closely related areas.

    CACSMA Undergraduate Awards
    The CACSMA Undergraduate Awards recognize outstanding work in design, research, manufacturing, and testing completed by undergraduate students at a Canadian institution in the field of composites and closely related areas.

    Professor Suong V. Hoa Student Paper Award Competition
    The Professor Suong V. Hoa Student Paper Award recognizes outstanding scientific contributions presented by Canadian students at the Canadian-International Conference on Composites (CANCOM) conference.

    Candidates will be nominated by the CACSMA Awards Committee and the CANCOM Scientific Programme Committee based on the quality of the conference papers and presentations at the biennial CANCOM conferences.
